I have another pal who was knocked out by the Olympics atmosphere twice - so I am very hopeful and as everyone knows 100% in favor of the move. Still it's down to the punters to provide the atmosphere it doesn't come "free" with the ticket, same as it does any other kind of event. You get to watch the football, but you actually get to be the crowd ! The atmosphere for the Olympics - admittedly bigger grounds and different events - was the best I've ever experienced anywhere (I was there every day as I had work there). The roof has been changed to retain that atmosphere with a football crowd. Plus we get to leave the Boleyn curse behind.... I hope! I prefer a bit of comfort now and appreciate that it is a business and an entertainment now more than being larger than life or death.
I'm just concerned that somewhere like the Emirates had more money spent on it, and was purpose built ( to milk the public), but, not having been to the Olympic gaffe, was it built to last? will the view be good? will there be any atmosphere as it is too big?
You gotta have atmosphere. Sounds like I'm moaning before it has been tested, I'm not, I just really want it to be great, and it is such a sweet deal. I've seen both from a distance - the top window of the new Westfield's John Lewis and close up from a prefab cafe near Docklands Light Railway. Remember it's only a rental - so I don't think they'll be much of a trace of us when we don't play. I'm thinking match day is going to be comparable to The Emirates and that varies according to who you talk to. As far as going to and from it couldn't be more convenient. Something's lost and somethings gained, as you know I'm in favor of the move - I have no interest in West Ham being left behind as a football club.Andy Pepperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16362841273409325198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6696950118415942477.post-46369322425619644232015-12-10T22:51:54.668-08:002015-12-10T22:51:54.668-08:00You would hope that if it is a premier league club...You would hope that if it is a premier league club new training ground they'll have genetically engineered the playing surfaces to be what they want. Even if the ref isn't an issue, then there's the Old Trafford Rule as in certain rules don't apply to Man Utd at home. Maybe now Charlie Endell (Ferguson to you) has retired that doesn't apply every match.
