West Ham v Crystal Palace

  1. That has to go down as a missed opportunity...I told you you have to have goals! Mr Letts will be working on a new documentary on the underlying causes of the lack of firepower at the Boleyn. Soundtrack by Stratford's own: Patrik Fitzgerald. that'll cheer everyone up!

  2. Wotcha Filthy, in post mortem mode I reckon a draw was a fair result. Of course I was all 3 points going in, but by half time I was re-considering Robert Green for Hammer of the Year. To be fair in the second half the Palace goalie pulled out a couple of show-stoppers too. We were knocking at the Palace gates, but alas none of the four trigger man Alf Tupper fronted could hit the mark. Better must come...

  3. 10 men may not be a cunning plan, but maybe it should be.
Wonder who'd like to volunteer to take the afternoon off.

  4. It was bound to catch up with us Smitty, just as well Robert Green was "rested" for the last 40 minutes of the Blackpool beano. Alf has since admitted that he showed a little too much loyalty to that side and should have started a few more fresh legs. The Irons winning two matches in five days, sounds a little far fetched now, but I must confess it didn't first thing Saturday morning. Anyway Alf's dragged the squad out to Dubai (I guess they can't go back to Blackpool) for a few days of currant bun - let's hope it works and we get three points of Cardiff Sunday lunchtime ! COME ON YOU IRONS !

  5. Dubai!!! What's wrong with clacton? I s'pose they're more likely to score in Dubai!! nudge, nudge...I hope I'm wrong, but I think it bodes ill for Sunday. Early morning, 5 hour flight, 3 days training/larking/breaking routine. 5 hour flight back. Face Cardiff- all uppity about taking down fancy opponents. Minds not in it. Or else...Alf's arranged an Arabian blood transfusion (a la Keef) and they're all on fire! The proof is in the sheep's eyeball.

  6. I figured it was Dubai, for the duty free shopping ! I doubt there will be any Rockin' of the Casbah for The Hammers Filthy. I've never been there, but I imagine the part Alf's taken them too resembles an enormous outdoor Terminal 5 at Heathrow. I share your concern over the jet lag and I have no idea how Cardiff will be after the close but no cigar Carling Cup Final ?

  7. I just looked up the flight times for Heathrow to Dubai, it's the best part of 7 hours ! Anywhere from 6:45 minutes to 7:15 ! It's like flying to the U.S. East Coast ! I'm not convinced this was the smartest move.

  8. Good work Sherlock! They can only be there for 3 days! Not cheap either! I'll reserve judgement until Sunday, but I feel a night out at "room at the top" would be more beneficial!

  9. My troops in Ilford tell me "The Rooms" is no more, but surely Torremolinos was still only a bucket shop away.
