West Ham v Crewe Alexandra (League Cup)

  1. Nice result for trying out the new guys.
Always good to see the numbers in the plus column.
As usual I think in the league it's going to be the heights of elation and the depths of despair but I enjoyed this one.

  2. Glad to see you've recovered from the Swansea result Smitty, I couldn't find a stream for this one, so I had to put up with the official text coverage "live report" - at least it's better than the BBC Sport one. Alf, as hoped put out some of the young 'uns and also gave some of the newer signings a chance to find their feet ("they're below your knees" - I know). It came across as a comfortable win, but we shouldn't lose perspective - The Railwaymen were just promoted from the 4th Division !

  3. Couldn't think of anything printable about the Swansea "Game", but it's all part of the joys.
I know CA aren't up there in bragging rights for anyone but they're a team with some time together
so it was a nice test for the new boys. Remember it's the Irons here, any given day with no pressure we could lose to anyone. Didn't we get it handed to us last year in the LC by someone who shouldn't have? All part of the roller coaster.

  4. Aldershot, at home, we lost 2 -1 ! I think the next round of The League Cup is drawn tomorrow, lets hope we get something "Within Our Means".

  5. I rest my case!!
I think we should be alright for a bit, after Swansea I'm sure no-one wants to hear Alf open his gob agin for a while. The newbies did alright.
LC, it am what it am. We can take 'em.
    I'll get me coat now.

  6. Fulham have come down a peg or two since opening day Smitty, maybe we can jump 'em - bright and breezy Saturday lunch-time ?

  7. They seemed to have been putting them in but I'm not worried. There's no reason we can't take Fulham, if we all show up awake.

  8. Great to see Van pop one in, I think if we get 3 points in the next two games that would keep us on track. Lets hope Sam wants to take it to Fulham 4-3-3!!! 4-3-3!!!! 4-3-3!!!

  9. Well Shiver Me Timbers Don't Hurt 'Em we've only gone and landed Andy Carroll ! Done and dusted it would appear, going to be interesting to see who Alf takes to Fulham.

  10. Smitty, with all the Andy Carrolling I forgot to mention the League Cup draw. We've got Wigan at home in the next round, which I think is very "do-able".

  11. Crewe, Wigan!
Lot of awaydays to black puddin land but you're right, quite do-able, and you can still get mild up there so a tasty pint to celebrate with.

Let's see if Mr Carrol is dosh out=dosh in.He's a big bu**er, with a nice header and so Alf says also a nice upfront boot. Which we could deffo do with.
So lets hope he's good for more finishing power
    and a few less draws.
    IYUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. That's us at home Smitty and you'd be hard pressed to find a pint of mild anywhere near Upton Park, I know they didn't serve it in The Boleyn boozer in 1976 (I worked behind the jump, there !) I also see Yossi has returned on loan (from Chelski) too, that won't go done well with some, but we sure do need some creativity - lets hope he's still got it !

  13. Da*n, and I could almost taste it too!!
Still, I'm sure there's something sensible in the Boleyn.

  14. I think carroll wiil be good as long as he doesn't get too homesick for the north. Benayoun could be great. He has great vision even if he ain't too popular. The future looks quite bright. Gotta attack Fulham-quite right!

  15. With regard to AC pining for The North, I guess keeping him happy down South becomes part of Kevin Nolan's job. Still you can get Newcastle Brown Ale in the smoke. I see Alf has stuck him straight in - got to earn his 80,000 nicker a week ! As for Yossi I'm hoping for a business like relationship - he'll do the business and we'll like him (again !).
