West Ham v. Everton

  1. How did Everton get Lukaku ahead of Allerdyce and West Brom?

  2. Ahoy there CP ! He looked the business too, didn't he ? I'd have to say that Everton are a bigger club and although Martinez is a "new boy", he has a reputation for playing some nice football. Meanwhile, Big Sam (AKA Alf Tupper) has shown a liking for the single striker and had already committed to Andy Carroll. This might have been a case where the combo of our managers reputation and our yo-yoing in and out of The Premiership have worked against us ? I certainly wish we had Lukaku and won't be surprised if Jose M starts to think the same way.

    1. Thanks, AP... my EPL learning curve continues. How was Jussi this game? Was his shutout against Southampton an outlier?

    2. Well I'm not one to criticise Jussi CP as he saves our backsides on a regular basis, but he's not having much luck with the direct free kicks. Leighton Banes scored 2 from the dead ball on Saturday and one got by him the match before.

  3. Losing 3-2 is always rough, but I honestly did not expect us to stick two in the old onion bag, hopefully Revel can go on a run

  4. It strikes me that Ravel is on the rise Don't Hurt 'Em, sure his goal took a deflection, but he's definitely got an eye for the back of the net. I also thought that Petric showed some promise, it was his hustle alone that won the ball that put Nobby in the box for the penalty. We may have lost but it was a step n the right direction.

  5. another fine Saitch A.P...even Basil Rathbone 'Market'.. on the could'nt solve our Goalies 'Freekickaphobia' at the minute...Jussi's demons have got him by the bollocks when it comes to a 25 yard freekick in front of goal...saved us games ,but of late has cost us dearly...on the last Saitch i said that to me west ham at the mo was like being chased by a 'something'..& just as it goes to eat you ...you wake up...well this time i didnt wake up because just as it was gonna eat me i put me hand up and the something saw the W.H.U ive got tattooed on me fingers...& started laughing at me instead...

  6. As you already know there's worse things than being laughed at Slippery ! As for Jussi, to me he's as good as Robert Green, perhaps even better ?

  7. Whether or not the 3 was there, it's the 2 that's important. We actually found out where the posts are and got some in between. Almost took a point too which is more than I would have bet on.
We could easily have been embarrassed, but we weren't.

Now would be the time to stick Lee in the frame for a spell, we have a bit of up front so he could only help and there would be less pressure on him.

  8. I don't think anyone our end would have predicted 3 - 2 Smitty, we actually held up better against The Toffees than we did at the end of last season !

  9. Didn't realise when I replied above Smitty, that young Mr Lee bagged 4 (yes four !) for the reserves - "Enter The Dragon" ? Got to be good for a spell against Hull at the very least.

  10. Got to be ! - but I wouldn't bet on it.

  11. the reserves played away at Newcastle a couple of weeks ago ....3-0 down at half time the final score was 4-5 to us with Elliot Lee scoring a hat trick....agreed about Jussi being better than Green in goal...agreed hes saved our skins a few times ...but still say he comes over all monkey with shots outside the box...got a feeling Big Sam will have Elliot Lee in there somewhere against Hull
