Slaven Bilic Manager

  1. Soon as I saw it on BBC Sports - I was "where's me scissors, glue and paints" and in the meantime I couple of comments were made of the Sepptic thread, copied below:

Looks like it's Super Slav. Get no complaints from me.
    I reckon he'll do OK

Biesla would"ve been fun- but Bilic has to be an improvement. I'm just so glad BFS has gone

I'm wid you Filth. I almost don't care if we lose every game as long as we go down swingin. Well obviously I do but you all know what I mean. I couldn't watch any of that crap anymore.

Wonder if he'll have a rethink and get Nene back and give him a real go. If West Brom pick him up as I saw somewhere they might I bet he punts a few in against us

  2. Few comments in the Septic thread about this. You were well snappy with a Saitch on this Mr P.
As said I'm all for it, I didn't care much who came in as long as the FF went out, but Billic is fine with all of us down at the YMCA.

  3. The right man for us right now I reckon Smitty - knows what he's getting into. On KUMB they're also talking about Steve Potts as No.2 - a wind up ? I have no idea, but Macho Man's gonna be busy ! The Hallelujah Europa cup starts in less than a month !

    ReplyDelete
  4. Maybe not bang on right, but a better than average punt.
I think the Europa cup will be much better than dodgy preseason games against New Zealanders. I think it will tell it we go far into it and our league position will suffer, but a few games and out would be great.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Did/Does the "bang on right" manager for West Ham exist Smitty ? "fooball is a game of risks" the mighty John Lyall would say - let's have some football then ! COME ON YOU IRONS !

    ReplyDelete
  6. Nope, prolly not.
But we have got a chance at some real footie.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Quick on the draw mr P! Looks like it'll be party time for all the final Boleyn season! "We want you, We want you, we want you as a new recruit"...........So we got the gaffer now who's he going to recruit?

    ReplyDelete
  8. You Need Loot To Recruit Filthy and I wouldn't be surprised if Bilic wants to pull a couple of faces from his recent endeavours. Also looks like we're trying to court Remy from the Chel$ki bench, but we won't be the only ones serenading him (with Lute, I mean Loot accompaniment).

    ReplyDelete
  9. Remy would be good. Not sure they'll let him go. I thought the Brady bunch had sanctioned 20 odd mil? Maybe I was a fool to believe that!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I think the figure was 25 Million Filthy, I wonder who he'll get rid of to top that up ? Jarvis has got to be a candidate to go surely ?

Charlie for Jarvis & a few bob. Done !! As far as I'm concerned.

  14. How big a difference can a new manager make with this team? Doesn't seem like enough time to implement a new system.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Welcome to Saitch Cranberry & Blue, I don't feel like most of the team is locked into any particular style of play, although there's bound to be some teething issues. With a few additions I reckon Bilic can make a football team out of them fairly swiftly. How well the backs can adapt to playing the ball out from the back is my only serious issue.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I see we've landed a new Spanish midfielder Pedro Obiang, although Happiness doesn't know what he looks like. H is a nice chap, so we'll put it down to dodgy eyesite and/or old age. I know nothing of Pedro, other than his name has been knocked about on KUMB for a few days.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Jarvis with "some" dosh for Charlie Austin sounds good to me too Smitty, but if QPR value him at 15M, a lot would depend on what trade in value for Jarvis would be acceptable ?

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm glad everyone seems to be happy with the new manager. Slaven Bilic? Sounds like he comes from Transylvania to me.

    ReplyDelete
  19. He's Croatian Clueless and a former West Ham player with plenty to prove as a manager. Here's hoping he can make his case with us. He's also a big music fan, but past experience has taught me to have low expectations when it comes to footballers' tastes.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Jarvis, Mr P , on past form 2 bob, realistically for a Championship side prolly 4-5 Mil trade in. I don't think they'd get 15 for him. Perhaps they'd take a slightly used AC unit with Nobbys on? Gotta be worth 15?
Transylvania, clueless, I'd take anyone who knows how to go for the throat.
C&B, compared to the Fat One anyone would make a difference, I was waiting for a call myself and if the votes had been counted I probably would have got in over him. Even if he fails miserably he'd fail swingin, and that's all most of us ask.

    ReplyDelete
  21. What's the sp on AC? You don't want AC with CA(ustin) they're cut from a similar cloth.Personally I'd ditch AC for CA any day, but will the income from AC match the outlay for CA? Otherwise" keep it on the ground" so that one of AC or CA can finish off the midfield moves. Otherwise bring back CC for the 3rd time to do the same.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Filthy, for me the essential difference between Carroll and Austin, is that Austin actually plays football on a regular basis and therefore scores more goals ! I would imagine the Brady Bunch will have asked Slaven to see what he can do with AC between now and January. But even then surely, injury has good to be planned for - nit's more likely than not, no ?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Also CA is slightly more than a 90% one trick pony no matter how many games he plays.
If he can't get rid of AC then if he only plays him against clubs who don't have big backs who can shut him down he might be useful and may last most of a season. Expensive 1 in 3 games player but there ya go , the Legacy of Sam

    ReplyDelete
  24. Not sure you can lay AC entirely "on the Legacy of Sam" Smitty, I think The Brady Bunch were more than keen and most of the support happy when he first arrived - not sure that there was much complaining when he signed at the end of his loan from LIverpool.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I thought everybody knew 99% of the pear shaping is / was Sam's fault.
In this case I'm sure they wouldn't have bothered if Sam hadn't been punting him everyday and we all bought the idea that his buddy Nobby would keep him off the extracaricular activities. So 99% again.
As to the support, even I thought he looked good on paper, and it's ill mannered to call him a pillock before he does something pillocky

  26. Next season's fixtures have been announced and we kick-off away to The Gooners on August 8th. As for as The Premiership goes Bilic will be slung in at the deep end. Is it my imagination or are Arsenal a bit slow out the traps ? Be a top shelf first scalp if we done them away - be top shelf if we do them at all - been a while.

    ReplyDelete
  27. They can be slow to start. It would be the perfect beginning and set the tone for the season if....It's a long time until then!

    ReplyDelete
  28. That means plenty of time to dream Filthy and with the Europa coming up in July (fixtures announced next Monday) we may even have an opportunity to raise our already unrealistic expectations higher. It's Bubbles Time....

    ReplyDelete
  29. I always think we have a chance especially early doors, but we usually mess it up somehow. Hopefully SS will get us revved and get the steamroller rollin.
If he puts AC up front though I'll kill him myself, he's never even made a dent against them as I recall.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Will AC even be fit by August 8th Smitty ? If so then he'll probably have enough time to injure himself again.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hopefully he will be so we can flog him to someone.

    ReplyDelete
  32. There were a couple of stories about a return to Tyneside, but AC's just become a Dad so I'm not sure what his partner would think about a move up there (assuming she's from the South East) ? I have no problem with Bilic giving him a spin, but I fear fitness is always going to be an issue. I don't think The Brady Bunch will get their dosh back on this one.

  33. Essex babe so I understand, with a mansion of the most horrific decor known to man
    so he'll have to commute.
He'll have moments against the lesser teams but against the bigger boys he's ineffective.
Yep they're on a loser there

    ReplyDelete
  34. You can get an even bigger mansion and afford ever more horrific interior accents(!) up Norf. She might fall for that?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yeah, but I can't see her fancying a meat pie and a milk stout at the Wheeltappers for a night out. I can see him commuting to get her out of his ear for a while though. So lets keep a good thought.

    ReplyDelete
  36. He's got Essex girl celebrity husband written all over him ! I can see them now in family themed Halloween outfits !

    ReplyDelete
  37. Well the First Leg of the Europa Cup will have us playing a side from Andorra on July 2nd. Whether or not it's Home or Way first, is still up in the air as another Andorran side has to play the same day. Evidently the "stadium" only holds 1,000 (yes one thousand punters), so whether it's the 2nd or the 9th I reckon we will only get about 150 tickets.
In case anyone wondering it's on the France/Spain board in The Pyrenees Mountains and according to Wiki has a population of 85,000 !

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think it's great we get some real pre season. Provided we don't get any serious injuries.
If it's here they'll get to tank up on pie n mash, come out fightin and we'll kick their asses.
Or we get to play in 99 degrees, downwind from every local plonk still, come out fightin and they kick our asses. Either way, real fun for real people.
Seriously I'd like to do well in the competition but with Slav feeling his way and a good showing in the prem with a not so deep squad necessary I think a long run this year may not be a great idea. But we shall see, maybe we'll come out fighting and stay that way, wouldn't that be great

    COYI!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. It's been confirmed the match on July 2nd is on Green Street Smitty, so the mountains (well one of their football teams anyway) come to us first. I wonder how many of the Faithful will be on holiday ? Going to have to be a cheap ticket I reckon and I have no problem with that, except I can't go !

    ReplyDelete
  40. how many sides are there in Andorra? I think England played the national team a few years back. SHOULD be a comfortable baptism for SB

    ReplyDelete
  41. I have no idea Filthy, at least two and is if the stadium only holds a thousand we can assume they don't have the money to sign overseas players. I wonder how FC Luistans qualified, I shall have a poke about...

    ReplyDelete
  42. Update via Wiki: First off the biggest team in Andorra - FC Andorra do not play in the Andorran Leagues but play in Spain. FC Luistanos/Luistans were founded 16 years ago in 1999, they have a Portugese identity, most of their fans being Andorrans of Portugese decent. Also most of their players are Portugese too. There appear to be four stadiums in Andorra - the largest holding 1,500, 1,300, 900 and 200. The winners of their League - Primero Diviso - go into The Champ.ions League the winners of The Cup - Copa Contitucio - go into into Europa. Ther appears to be 8 teams in the Primera and I'm not sure how many in the Segona Divisio.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Top shelf sleuthin Mr P.
Will be a nice baptism for SS. They could be a surprise, young, keen, ready to punch above their weight. Doubt if it will be on the box over here but you never know.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Little to no chance of it being shown Stateside Smitty, but there's bound to be a Stream from somewhere. Commentary may well be in some indecipherable language with Arabian subtitles and frequently freezing frames, but sometimes you get what you pay for !

    ReplyDelete
  45. looks like Payet has signed. 28 yrs old, to in assists last season in France. Sounds good!

    ReplyDelete
  46. http://kumb.com/story.php?id=128694

Is it definite yet? Looks like there's still a bit of sodding about to do.
Saw the videos, I like him.
The French owe us for Miaga, maybe we can throw him back part exchange. Looks like they may need a few bodies.

  47. We could be Singing again

    http://kumb.com/story.php?id=128696

I think he ( and all of them) will be better now the FF's gone

Now lets see if someone remembers Nene. I think he'd be a champ with the new & improved.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Neither "Payet Signs" nor "Song On A Free" have appeared anywhere outside of KUMB as of yet and having seen more that a few fish wriggle off the hook, or not take the bait in the first place, I shall remain unmoved. Hopefully just for now. Tis the season for all kinds of porkies

    ReplyDelete
  49. Ah, but at least it's possible and it's nice to dream in somewhat reality space.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I saw Payet signs on the guardian.......Didn't Nene go?

    ReplyDelete
  51. KUMB News saying Dimitri Poyet has signed, but not on the official site yet. Wasn't Nene let go at the end of last season ?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yeah seems the Poyet thing looks done, but who knows.

Yeah, he was let go, but no reason we couldn't get him back. I don't think he got a fair shot with the FF and doesn't look like he's playing anywhere right now

    ReplyDelete
  53. Look at us Smitty, getting our Poyet's and our Payet's mixed up - just as well they play with numbers on their back. I wonder if there's a Peyet, Piyet or Puyet ? maybe we could collect the set ?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Yeah, we're good :D
Will be innerestin if they play together, state of commontaterin today they'll never get it right, Colemanballs before they start.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Puyol...poyet...payet...umm...'though that could be a very decent"spine" to the team.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Thursdays Europa kick off on Green Street sold out ! Ten quid to see The Hammers win in Europe at the Boleyn obviously too good to turn down. I wonder how many Lusitans fans there will be ? Must be a few Andorrans in London surely ? Or do thet have to ne Portugese Andorrans to support Lusitans ?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Bilic not in charge for Lusitans, but will watch from the stands according to BBC Sport. Which makes me think we will be fielding a B- Team and also makes me wonder if it was not by accident that this was not announced before it sold out ? Still a tenner a pop ist should still be a good night out !

    ReplyDelete
  58. First night back in Europe (for Saitch), I shall be on the move today, but hopefully settled by the laptop for, or close to kick-off. COME ON YOU IRONS....

    ReplyDelete
  59. Chancy putting the kids in for this but I don't see any reason we can't pull it off. Got a bit of firepower up front, and Malfi could have a good runaround.
I can see why he did it though.
Early footie under the lights to start off the last Boleyn though. Gotta be a good night out for just a few quid. I'd go if I was there.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I read that there were 89 Andorrans there, which is something like 10% of their capacity, so not a bad showing from them. Nice and easy and a bonus fun night out at this time of year. A decent run in Europe will help to make the move more attractive, but in the top 10 of the league will be the aim I would think.

    ReplyDelete
  61. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3152360/West-Ham-agree-8million-deal-Angelo-Ogbonna-Italian-defender-snubs-Everton.html

It's only the Mail but can't be all bad if it happens. We might be starting to look good and a fresh start with more hope this season I'm all for it. Go to it SS.
