Yup, 'fraid the jokes on 'arry. If I were him I'd get out of Shepherds Bush pronto. From what I saw, not a classic performance but good enough and 3 more luverrley points
If I were Tony Fernandez I'd get Arry out of Shepherds Bush pronto Filthy. Apart from the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half they didn't look like they were up for anything other than a loss and looking at their bench, there didn't seem to be much interest from Old Man Redknapp either.
Downing and Zarate look like they're enjoying themselves. There seems to be a lot of movement and drive from midfield. They'll cause better teams than QPR problems. All's good right now!
7th Place no less Filthy and above The Gooners and Man U. too ! With the International Break bang on time to help Noble and Kouyate's recoveries - Aaah Bisto !!!
Nice to see yer monicker Billy and how right you are. Jim Grant of Stop Hammmer Time Podcast compared the Hammers transformation to that of a caterpillar into a butterfly ! You still at at ESPN ?
The SF Giants one step closer to the World Series! The stars are aligning again for our even year wining of ot all. I think this bodes well with some theory I came up with last year that the Hammers will win everything this season also. Go Giants! Go Hammers!
Slight hiccup from TWC, so I just watched yesterday. Very enjoyable, I can watch that ( even if we were to lose) we've got the lads that run and run. I like Valencia , he's not keen on losing the ball is he. Runs at/ after everything. Be very dangerous when they've been together for a bit longer. If we carry on we'll soon be giving the big boys a run for their money regularly. Surprisingly QPR put up a fight though, never looked like winning but it wasn't a walk over. Our finishing needs to be a bit better as usual.
I watched a part of a game on Yes a while ago, the commentary consisted of X to Y to Z Foul by A on B etc I actually knew what was going on. Those two pillocks on this game, uninterrupted uninteresting drivel. My life, wish I got money for spouting off like that
Howdy there Clueless - long time no see. I don't want to rain on your parade but The Hammers winning "everything" is not only "pushing it a bit" but no longer actually possible after we were knocked out of the League Cup but our most disliked (okay hated) small fry rivals - lowly Sheffield United. We are though for sure a team on the rise - some new arrivals over the summer have transformed our team. Sakho, Valencia, Zarate and Kouyate are all names that I'm hoping you will become familair with CY, Come On You Irons ! Stand Tall You Giants !
There you are Smitty ! Agreed there's no reason this team shouldn't get much better and also agreed that QPR were more in it (especially first 15 of second half) than "folk memory" will recall - still all's fair in "Love, War and Arry", no ? As for commentators I know they've been winding people up since day one, but here in the US they've taken Tripe into a whole other dimension !
You would hardly have known 'Arry was there if he hadn't have taken a call for a lay off. Tripe? That's very understanding of you, we passed tripextra several games ago. We're well into the mindless gibberish at this point
There's definitely a gap in the market for a commentator with some elan Smitty - a Slim Gaillard of Soccer perhaps ? As for 'Arry - it may not be a Xmas Card he gets from Tony Fernandez this year !
Slim Gaillard? I was an extra in a movie with him once years ago......the commentators and "experts" aren't much better up here in Canada. Danny Dichio!!
I'm disappointed that BFS hasn't got a mention so far, so just for giggles anyone think he'll be here next year? Trying to be fair and weighing up all the pies & cons totally objectively, I think he's gone.
Alf Tupper Smitty ? Got to be gone for Stratford surely ? Now that Mr Sullivan's found his form in the international transfer market its hard to see where the Large One would fit ?
Gone by next season I hope. Give the new guy a year at Upton. If it was Sully? But despite seeing the contrary in print, it sure weren't Alf. Uncle Ted mebbe. Oh yeah, a particular Colemanballs with one of those a holes -The BOleyn ground? In all my history lessons it was always BoleYn. makes yer wanna throw something at the telly
I thought I just saw a sentence online stating BFS praised by Sullivan for playing "the West Ham way". Don't think he's gone yet! The film wasn't x rated, but should have been for being crap! (clue- the thin white duke was in it too)
He's got no choice, Filthy. I can't see Downing Jarvis, Song, Wile E etc punting the ball upfield to Sarkho, Valencia or Zarate on their todd. He'd sign Bernie Bresslaw or Arthur Mullard and do it with them
What! Smiley Prince Phil in a movie!! I'd pay to see that:)
I don't think he means Olympiakos Phil Smitty, I think he means David Robert Jones, formerly of Brixton, who should by rights be a Palace supporter. But considering his chosen profession, he's probably Chelski if anyone at all !
I know, but the very thought was enough for a laff and he fits the description. Come on, gave you a snigger, admit it. Maybe they'll wheel him on for some UKIP ads.
Well back To football , I was watching the last 15 minutes of the USA v. Ecuador match and saw Valencia score a scorcher a few minutes before the finish. It was played in Connecticut and he walked off at the finish, so there should be no issues with him showing up in Burnley (a team supported by Phil's eldest Smitty).
Prince Phil would have injected some much needed humour! Meanwhile the international break continues to drag...I was going to praise your enthusiasm ,Mr P, for digging up some irrelevant action, but then realised it was probably compulsory viewing in the US as Saint Donovan was given a stage to cry on.
I didn't watch it, no compulsory viewing round here. I generally find internationals to be tedious, nobody wants to put the boot in, so to speak, in case they get hurt. Which I'm glad to hear Valencia didn't. I like him.
Landon certainly wasn't "Calling" me Filthy, his post World Cup whingeing left a sour taste round my Pro USA gaff. Fortunately he was off before tuned in and I got exactly what I hoped for a goal from Valencia !
Glad you feel the same about LD. He did behave childishly and seems to have a very high opinion of himself. The euro qualifiers seem especially tedious this year( now they are new, improved and expanded) ROI v Gibraltar etc ? hard to get worked up unless you live on the Rock
"Why would they want to sign a player that does more bugle than Maradona, doesn't cut his hair, is injury prone, alcoholic, doesn't train, goes on holidays, spends too much money, earns too much money, has an Essex bird, is thick as a three short planks, hits team mates, rubbish at getting round table tennis tables and can't play football?"
Got a point! Still if we can get $10M for him and save a gazillion in wages, I think do it
Think Winston will be here next year?
I do. I don't think anyone's knocking door down with $
"More Bugle than Maradona" ? Is it known that AC has a coke habit ? I very much doubt it is. I'd say guilty of most of the charges levelled, although "alcoholic" might be over stating it too - especially in a country like the UK ! But in principle if he is on 90K a week as rumoured, I'd say flog him as soon as he's fit - although I can't see anyone paying 10M for him. But if he's on the best part of 5M a year in wages the sale price may not be that relevant. Does Mike Ashley really want him back on Tyneside, or is Pardew just trying to get some Barcodes off his back ?
a little ditty sung by some over the Boleyn ground goes
'Bring ur vodka Bring ur charlie Andy Carroll's aving a party'
never heard this sung until after Carroll's visit one night to a back street west ham pub in E.16 named The Army & Navy He was in there with all the locals watching Liverpool v West Ham on sky (A.C. was injured at the time) Awell known West Ham online forum started a thread about this and the owners were threatened with legal action by Carroll's lawyers if they kept on or spoke about it (slander)
Well it wasn't written by a fan so there's certainly some license in there. I would like to think we could get 10 otherwise Alf would have to admit he bought a carthorse, which we all know but......... We should do all we can to free up the wages though, that's a lot of gelt for an "impact sub"
10M from who Smitty, that's the question. As for Winston - I really have no idea, he wants the next levels wages without the experience and there aren't that many clubs that willl pay him top dollar. Sullivan recently said that if a player is willing to play In Turkey or Russia than you couldn't compete with the wages they would pay - I have no idea what Winston's ultimate end game is. PersonallY I think Liverpool would be wise to get him on a free in the summer and risk the wages, but I still want him to stay with us.
If his credibility isn't totally shot , someone should cough. Or if they actively put him on the table it may generate some OOMPH in his play , knowing he's not top dog anymore, and could end up in Scunthorpe. Then he'll go to Burnley for 5 bob and tear a strip of everyone without an injury in sight for 3-4 years. THAT'S the West Ham Way.
I think he will stay, but probably for the wrong reason- nobody will give him what he wants. I think he should stay - after the years of dross to be in with a chance for fame and if he really does want out more fortune in a year or so. I'd like him to stay , on his day a solid player.
What if AC doesn't want to go? Sounds like he's pbably enjoying himself at the moment. He'd be forever hated as one of those spongeors but maybe he doesn't care. He and BFS could have their own little club. I think Mr P's right, 10 mil would be a result. I'd take 5 and blame BFS.
Quite possibly he wouldn't, but I'm sure a way could be found to twist his arm (or foot would probably work better seems more sensitive). If he sits around collecting for the length of his contract, however long that is , is anyone likely to take him at all after that. Quite possibly he doesn't care but it's the Gullies that are going to call the shots, not BFS. 10 would be a result, but I'd try for it anyway, you never know. There's so much justifiable blame on the FatOne I don't think he'd notice that any more than the rest.
Next time he's about I'll try twisting his arm - I meant that I doubt I could find it let alone copy it onto here. Don't be fooled by my suave Blog wielding exterior Smitty.
In the meantime Smitty heres the SP on pies swiped from the BBC Price Of Football:
SKY PIE PRICES?
Brighton & Hove Albion. The south-coast club charge £4.10 for theirs, more than any other club in England's top four divisions. Conference side Kidderminster charge even more, with a pie at Aggborough costing £4.50. Wigan sell the cheapest pie in the division, charging £2.40. And the cheapest pie sold by the clubs we contacted? Conference side Braintree and Women's Super League outfit Sunderland Ladies both offer one for just £1.
Ta for the pinfo. They'll all be in trouble when TFO is out and in the premium pie market. They'll be bigger and taller than the others, and in every showcase they'll be one up front that rarely moves, sorta display model. Some will probably be a bit fragile due to a puff pastry fault and will have to be sold at a loss, but in theory he'll do well when the odd solid one makes a score against inferior examples at the other end of the cafe. He may also lose a little by consistently putting in older ones, insisting that they are just as tasty after having matured somewhat. These too will have a small but solid following but not generally favoured by the pie faithful. Despite all this I think he will be in the middle / lower ranks of the top pie makers and somehow make a better than average living
Back to football, I've had a poke about and see Noble's been training and that Tupper's hoping Valencia will play at Burnley, but no mention of Wile. Either way, we've got to fancy or chances at all 3 points, the only upside I can see for them is that we are West Ham - Don't Blow It Lads ! Come On You Irons !!!
The Guardian has Wiley as injured and Noble as doubtful - but how ITK can they be - maybe more than Clueless, but not by much I reckon ! They also predict a 0-0 draw, I'll eat my left almond if that happens !
Yup, 'fraid the jokes on 'arry. If I were him I'd get out of Shepherds Bush pronto. From what I saw, not a classic performance but good enough and 3 more luverrley points
