  6. Welcome back Club Penguins. I'd say his seat has cooled considerably since the win against Swansea. With 30 points on the board, Mo Diame not sold and Andy Carroll fit again, it does seem unlikely that we will be involved in the relegation fray. If we stay clear of it, I think Alf Tupper is safe - he seems to get on well with the owners and there are no stories of backstage "tension," that I've heard of. Having said that there's a good sized contingent that feels short changed by the Allardyce Style, or perhaps I should say the lack thereof.

  7. Is there any revenue sharing in EPL (e.g., TV money) that evaporates upon relegation?

  8. There's a whole heap of dosh (moolah, sheikels, pieces of 8, etc.etc.) to lose when your relegated CP. Although there is what is called "parachute payments" when you go down. As I understand the parachute payments are for the first 2 years a team goes down and if they're not up by then, it's usual a financial nightmare. But even with them, once you drop wages and other expenses have to be cut sharpish !

  9. TV money etc? in 2011 Man utd got 60m pounds from TV revenue and the Hammers got 40 million. The difference is worked out by league position, number of games televised. This year it is due to go up a lot as a new deal is negotiated. I think in 2011 all championship teams got 3 million pounds. So a big difference. I also think there are other sources of revenue that disappear. As AP says their is a "parachute" payment to help with "the drop", but it's still going to hurt big time when you hit the ground.
I'm sure the pressure will be off Alf now. Huge sighs of relief all round.

  10. Club Penguins, despite the figures Filthy mentions above Manchester Citeh still managed a year end loss of 97.9 million pounds - which included a very dodgy looking sponsorship deal too ! In other words the current business model for the EPL is completely unsustainable !

  11. Good point Mr.P. New evidence emerging of match fixing. It's just like big business now. I'm not sure if this is following the American model or is it's own beast. It's all about money though, either way.
it was a fine header, by the way, and A.C flicking on for K.N worked and could have had more results.

  12. I think any sport has potential for match fixing Filthy, obviously one with twenty odd people involved (2 teams and at least 3 officials) has a little more criminal potential for a "weak link" than some (golf, tennis, snooker, etc.). As fans al;l we can demand/hope for is a robust policing of the game.

Back to us, hats off to Swansea's goalie Tremmel, if he hadn't been on top form, Nobby could have bagged himself a brace - both courtesy of AC !

  13. Trollin around today and found this

Never thought he was the nuts anyway.

    Big Bad Sam?

    Thoughts?

  14. To quote Strother Martin in Cool Hand Luke: "What we have here is a failure to communicate". I could be wrong, but I doubt that Alf Tupper's French has improved much since he was done over by Marcel Moreau in the Highcliffe Cup (The Victor). Cash needy agent tells Diarra that Les Hammers will guarantee him first team football and Diarra agrees to sign. Signed, Diarra finds out otherwise and gets the ache, both Alf and The Faithful are unimpressed and the agent goes off to see if he can rusrtle up some more commission ! Cest La Vie...my two centimes !

  15. Monsewer Le P. So yous figures it a case of cherche le gelt, agent or otherwise?

Notwithstanding that, I'd be disinclined to keep someone who after the event says - Je suis le idjit gullable. There must have been a touch of that before he got on the bus.
Also it seems he wasn't here 5 minutes before he ruptured a left croissant and became a dead weight. If he was in fact the dogs danglers he seemed to think he was, when he did play, fully rested and fit, he should have left skid marks on the turf. No such luck.
If I was Alf I'd be putting in for a refund.

  16. I say good riddance to Diarra, I know its unfair to compare him to a player the caliber of Diame but he never won me over. Sam bought himself a little bit of time with the win, but I'm still not convinced with him or his tactics

  17. Your a hard man Don't Hurt 'Em, but I can't expect you to warm to the gaffer over a one goal win. Maybe a win at Villa, will move you a little closer ? As for Diame and Diarra, we're on the same page about both, as Smitty has said Alou never made much of an impression when he did actually play - he' s no Mo !
