West Ham v. Newcastle

  1. So...A lot of shaky "hard stares" "we're tougher than u+ Thames v the Tyne
    eyeballs_and ignorance.
    Looks good/ score irrelevant!

  2. Wotcha Filthy, it suddenly dawned on me that although I belittled Citeh, for expecting Tevez to score against us, that I had foolishly predicted that AC would score the goals that might relegate The Geordies. What I call a "Do Not Pass Go - Do Not Collect 200 Quid" moment !

  3. Couldave gone either way, but not bad all round.
We held, they held, and lots of shuffling in the middle
Good point about AC & CT Mr P.
Looks like we're safely here next year and the point must be a welcome one on the Tyne

  4. Smitty, with Wigan losing to Swansea last night, it's official "We Are Safe", no small thanks to Winston "Crazy Horses" Reid who once again rescued us with that "Was It Over/Wasn't It Over" goal-line clearance. If we'd got started in the first half we might have had all 3 points, still AC and Nobby are Geordies !

  5. Another blinding piece And......from where me and my son sit..where the North Bank meets the West Side...i was certain it was Winston's over the goal line clearance...if the lino had'nt have fallen over at that moment sure he would have given a goal...as soon as i saw who the ref was that day i knew we did'nt have a chance of getting any favours (P.Dowd the fat school teacher of the Wset Ham v Man Utd F.A. Cup replay at old trafford) and if he was any closer he'd have given a goal...we should have gone for the kill to try & relegate the Geordies as they would've if the boot was on the other foot...but the game was played like a friendly in my opinion..could've..should've..
    ..but could'nt be arsed to've

A turn of phrase I'd like to have thought of mesself.
      A quite reasonable summation.

      Mr P.
Didn't do the adding up, but I assume we'd have had to go some to screw it up. Not totally out of the question.
Mea culpa, forgot a Big Rah for Mr Reid.

  6. No Smitty, relegation is now beyond us - not even West Ham United could pull The Drop off now ! Hats off to Alf say I !

  7. ""not even West Ham United could pull The Drop off now ! ""

Now that's something you can't say with confidence very often!!

    Hat's off to 'em all!
Now who has to sleep with who to keep the AC on over the summer?

  8. Well with all the managerial changes going on at the top o' the table, there's no telling who might be interested in AC or how much The Scousers will want for him, that is assuming they still want to sell ?

  9. Yeah, too true. But as you said - lets shake out the couch and spend the cash. Lets hope he's happy in the smoke and puts his 2c in.
AC - Poltergeist - Straight trade - Nah, BFS would never go for that.

  10. My knowledge of the "Dark Arts" goes little further than a box of Black Magic Smitty, but if I remember correctly you need a special a geezer to get rid of a Poltergeist !

  11. (Sigh!) I think you're right Mr P.

  12. Don't think we've any chance of keeping A.C....£17M & £100K a week is a bit too much for the 2 Dave's i reckon the Geordies will take him home...as a bit of a butter up to the fans for having a naff season...

  14. Thats a large dollop of reality you've served up there Slippery, I'm betting on the longshot "That You're Wrong". As always I'll take a peek at your latest viewing tip !

  15. And...i hope i am wrong...A.C has grown on me since his arrival...i was against the move to start with..injuries aside his work rate and the effort he puts in on the field is second to none....just hope he was'nt giving it "the big un" in the shop window...but was genuinely doing it for the club.

  16. If he's happy as a Hammer, let's keep him and if he's not he'll be on his bike soon enough.

  17. I fear you may be right SDD, but I don't think he's winderin.
I'd like to think once in a while something other than money wins. He's alone up front, getting his feet ( & head ) back, star of the show, the fans I think will take him in, and he's in a real arena not stuck in the fog.
Let's hope shall we, and maybe we can organise a whip round, 10p extra on the Savs & PP( yech) in the neigborhood till he's paid for.

    1. You can have me Pickled Onion money too Smitty, if it'll keep AC in the East End !

  18. Das the spirit!!
But seriously, if we never had him it would have been different, and was a bit shakey at first,
but the last few games he added so much, excitement for one thing, for lo these many seasons we've needed a nutter ( and a boot) up front. Would be a tough one to give up.

    1. Just looked, horrifying.Didn't know about it I was in the US by then.
4 minutes for the fire brigade and still too late.
      Oy!!

    2. Sadly Mr Smitty the old man who wandered out of the stand onto the pitch head to toes on fire died a couple of days later...most of the fans perished under the stand as they tried to exit but were unable to because the gates were locked

  20. Horrific stuff slippery and I had to look it up, but 56 killed and 265 injured. In hindsight it's a miracle it never happened on a bigger scale elsewhere. A sad anniversary for many in Bradford I'm sure.

  21. imagine And ...me and me late dad watching it live ....Des lynam on grandstand said theres an incident happening at Valley parade...and they cut to it...me and me dad could'nt believe it..the west side upper at the Boleyn had all wooden seats if you remember...all changed after this day...Bradford City had a flag unfurling at the F.A. CUP final today in remembrance of the victims...the F.A tried to charge them hundreds of £'s for doing it...but media coverage of what the F.A were charging shed bad light on F.A & charges were wavered.

  22. Yup I was watching Grandstand as well. Didn't look serious at the beginning...but then....just terrible. I can't believe the FA were that unfeeling to want to charge for a banner.
Looks like uncle sam is signing up again!

  23. As I've said before "we all know what the FA stands for, the same as Sweet FA" ! and yes Filthy, Alf Tupper has signed up for another 2 years, which could well bring him to Stratford's Eve.
