West Ham Utd v. Sunderland

  1. It only takes one goal! I liked the celebration, apparently a Simpsons reference. Sam in trouble still, I heard that his reception wasn't too vicious, but that he delayed coming out of the tunnel to avoid it.

  2. 24hr saitcharound Mr P, pretty snappy.
As opposed to the boys who were pretty scrappy.
We were unlucky a couple of times but so were they, much as it chokes me to say it we weren't that bad that we made them look better than they are but they didn't look like a bottom 3 club. I was hoping he'd go down with the ship but he might possibly keep em up. Bugger.
GGGreats goal came out of the blue and his celebration has gotta be a first. He's a good lad, worth every penny.
All in all wasn't our finest moment but as in keeping with our current trend we'll have lulled Spuds into a false sense of security and come out and give em a slappin on wednesday.

  3. Thought it unsporting of Tupper to deny the crowd there fair share of abuse Filthy, after all he had in his last couple of seasons with us earned it.

  5. Quick work Don't Hurt 'Em - confirmation that Tiger's 360 celebration is a tip of the comb over to Homer Simpson as Filthy suggested. You two are on it !

  6. Agreed Smitty hardly a top shelf performance, but it was a bit nervous that Tupper might pull off a win and happily he didn't. There's a reason Judas Defoe has ended up where he is and the same goes for Rodwell, in fact the sam goes for Sunderland ! Thought Payet should have had a penalty, and O Shea should have been yellowed carded for that bear hug - we didn't even get a free kick out of that. But we did get 3 points and a Saturday night as No.5 !

  7. The scouting report for West Ham will now say put 6 defenders on TonyO because he can beat 5. And have you heard the Zlatan rumors?

  8. My concern with Zlatan C&B would be the miles on the clock anyhow much gas is left in the tank. Wasn't there a striker at Marseilles we were sniffing around ?
I certainly like the last bloke we got shopping there !

  9. Yeah woulda been a bugger if they got one in for the draw and even worse 2 for the win. But we had an ugly win - Sign of Sam !
There were so many fouls not given, a lot more on us then them you could write a book. Standard of reffin now is abysmal, so barely worth a mention, and will be until they are held accountable for it other than an occasional overturn like Wile E's

  10. is the standard of reffin getting worse ? Or is it that the TV coverage is so much sharper we see more ? The games so much faster now, maybe it's just too much for one ref to keep up with ?

  11. I think it's any number of variables but nothing is likely to happen to change it so it looks like we're all gonna have to grin & bear it.

  12. Giving the resistance to a no brainer like goal line technology, you may well be right Smitty, but down the road a piece there is room for improvement. On the spot reviewing of red cards could probably be done quicker than the time it takes for someone to leave the pitch nowadays. Still i'm sure that moaning about refs started that first time they were used !

    1. There is room for improvement at the next corner. All refs seem to be older and there don't seem to that many of them. There is a tradition of human rather than machine decision which tends to even out in theory and I tend to agree. Maybe 2 refs on a field with the "sr" having jurisdiction in the event of disagreement. Or making it a profession that would attract more & younger to come in. Or just a simple revue of the games by an "independent" board and sanctions if they F up. That might inspire the officials themselves to want a change. Oh well, I'm sure we'll get a pen not called v spuds so we can moan. And so it goes.

    2. First off I'd pay a load more money - every one else on the pitch is vastly overpaid so lets make it 23 instead of 22 - that would immediately increase the "gene" pool. My old man (RIP) used to wonder " who would be a ref ? Hated by everyone and crap pay ?". I'm sure that the pay is no longer "crap" but there's enough money about in football to pay omen extra geezer - who by the way is supposed to be in charge of it all !

  13. Good Saitch A.P

Highlight of the day was when they brought out players from the 60's at half time ...and interviewed Geoff Hurst pitchside
    interviewer
"Geoff u scored 6 against sunderland here in 68"
    Geoff Hurst
"Yeah..Brian Dear only got 5 against West Brom..Fuck Im"

    Great ..only at West Ham

  14. Thanks as always for the kind words Slippery. I was at that match, all of 11 years old and in the front of the Chicken Run with my cousin. My uncle would've been further back or on the beer, possibly both - once down the front we stayed putt until it was all over and he gave us a shout. Does anyone remember who got the other two ?
