Everton v. West Ham

  1. I was nervous in the beginning with Reece Oxford understandably having a difficult time with Everton's experienced lineup but they figured something out. I thought it might be 3 or 4 to 0 at half time. The extra man did help.

  2. The tide was definitely turned by Adrian's save C&B and then it went from "what a save" to "what a turn up for the books" ! A young defender has got to learn his trade and I'm sure Peanut (Butter) will not forget getting turned like that by Lukaku - who "had' to score anyway (8 in a 8 against us I believe) and took his goal superbly.

  3. Yep, the bugaboos going down like ninepins. Is there anyone we can't take on now.
We had a little rub o'the green but it was that sticktoitness that told. Adrian's penalty and the one on one and we were away. GGGreat as usual -is that man all over the shop or what, Sacko looking back on form and Monsuer Dimitri with the well deserved killer. I'll be bound you annoyed the neighbours when that went in Mr P.
Fair-dos to them though even with 10 they did a job on us, just not for long enough.
It's proof we've come a long way that even with a patched together back 4 we did well. So the youngster got caught, better men than he have been and all in all he did his bit.
Wile E pretty much locked away his bit.
Again it's hard to call MOTM, everyone puts in a shift every game nowadays. Ain't it great.
I'd be really surprised if we didn't put the Red Mancs away in fine style. Who can tell us no!

  4. On the subject of the neighbors, in my defense it was one hell of a racket but only for the last 12-15 minutes Smitty ! We always looked like scoring, but if San Miguel hadn't stopped that peon, our ship might well have sank ! As you rightly point out The Toffees did look strong but once cracked they feel to pieces !

  5. You don't really need a defense, you've probably been very quiet last year or so. Nothing much to shout about.

One thing I noticed while looking at the match comments on KUMB was a lot of remarks about the Toffees always being a dirty niggly team . Over the years I've never really noticed that and it didn't look like it this time, aside from McCarthy who needs a slap - but there's always one.

Another thing that's obvious but won't go away. Mighty Manny put in a shift even though he didn't score but we still insist on Tarzan which is as good as going down to match their 10 men. I'd take a tenner and a promise to never come back any time now.

  6. Even though for most of his shift he looked colorblind, I'd say Tarzan was the key to the goal. Double coverage and a spot on touch from the head. That's about all we should expect from him.

  7. Not sure I think of Everton that way either, as you say Smitty, McCarthy excepted. Must admit that Martinez is going down in my estimation though, for his perpetual moaning.
As for Tarzan, it would appear that Bilic likes him and if it's ok with Super Slav, it's ok with Andy Pepper too. In Bilic we trust !

  8. You're right C&B Tarzan's main job appears to be to keep two defenders busy.

  9. I get your points about Tarzan but he only does it once every 5-10 games or as we know it, a season. Plus his shooting 2 feet from the goal rivals the row z king Diame.
I also tend to agree on most things Super Slav but in this case .........

I'm glad someone agrees re The Toffs. I always enjoyed the games even though we usually lost at theirs or ours. Yeah Martinez was King of the Whines this go round. Looks like his time is coming due from the word about town.

    Yeah Mr P

  10. If someone offers good money for tarzan I'm sure he can be spared. He's worth having till the end of the season for 15 minute cameos (word up-extended mix!).
As for the game there was no way West ham should have won that game until it all changed in the last 15 minutes. Amazing, the stuff of legends. Bilic increasingly god-like!

  11. You can't kill off this team with 2 goals Filthy ! We may be slow at the start blocks, but we know how to finish. But I didn't know Super Slav was growing a beard Filthy ? Wearing robes too ??

  12. Palace are through to the semis, we could do a lot worse than beat Man U and draw them. Having said that from here on it has to be The Harder They Come On You Irons !

  13. The Toffees through too. So if we draw them we'll have to scare at least two, there's no way Lukaku's playing us and not scoring !

  14. Gooners out too ! So Palace, Everton, Watford and …. COME ON YOU IRONS !!!!
