Trials, Tribulations and Triumphs of being 3,473 Miles from Upton Park and West Ham United (Aug 2011 - May 2016)
I'm off to Atlanta for a funeral/memorial (my 2nd in May) and I wanted to get something up before I left. A game like the last one at The Boleyn Ground deserves more time and so I will work on something when I get back. In the meantime this will have to do...
Sorry your trip is for sad reasons (again!) I eagerly await how you can get all that last night into one Saitch! What a night!
Oh, and of course it was Man utd's fault, It always is...for everything.
Ditto on the condolences Mr P.Was an action packed night for sure and I await the proper Saitch so we can do it justiceCOYI!!!!!!!!
Howdy form The South (that's Atlanta not Bermondsey) and thanks for the kind words Smitty and Filthy. Not sure you can pack all that happened into one Saitch, will have to give it some serious thought. I did have something in mind, just before kick off but as is the case more often than not the game changed all that !
As for Filthy's comment's on Man U's fault - I definitely think the late card was part of Van der Valk's strategy - didn't he pull the same against Spuds at white Hart Lane ?
Man U's coach. Hard to believe they are that stupid to think they could get through. Not hard to believe they are arrogant enough to think everyone should cowtow when they appear. Not hard to believe they might think it's clever and would rattle whomever. Not hard to believe they'd think it would work 2nd time when they got their as**s handed to em 1st time. Mancs & LVG ain't worth a nickel for the lot
Hardly takes the Brain of Britain to figure out that Green Street is going to be chocka for the last ever game. So did Man U and The Old Bill really not communicate ? What were they expecting then ? No crowds at all ? I bet the boozers were busy from lunch time on, so doubt everyone miraculously appeared they same time their coach did. Best case scenario Van Der Valk's "at it" and the Old Bill"are clueless but perhaps we were fitted up ?
Talk is that everyone screwed up really. Roads should've been closed, more police, Man get there earlier, apparently they had planned to have a"low key" final game to keep a lid on it, and Swansea was meant to be it, but then this game was rearranged....
I think they just came late a purpose to be aholes for the psych em out and whine approach and the Bill were unprepared. But that's just my opinion. No real excuse for the bottles but...As has also been said, back in the day there would have only been 3 smolderin axles left so ....Just saw this on the news, That's disgusting!www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/10280349/manchester-united-announce-record-quarterly-revenue
Don't want to be a bore Filthy, but it's really the Old Bill's job to see that it all runs smoothly outside the ground and they cocked it up. If the Club's at fault it's that they should have been double checking that The Old Bill are at least on record for saying they're on top of it. I'm with Smitty on the deliberately late Man U, but still the Old Bill should have been monitoring their progress. have you seen photos of how mobbed Green Street looked before anything "untoward" happened ?
You're right Smitty, there are no excuses for the bottles. Having said that considering how many pissed up punters with no tickets there were in such a small area there are no surprises that it happened either. Once again the buck stops with The Law, I bet they haven't criticized Man U. As for their money - more proof that the move to The Olympic was a necessary move.
Last game of the season and the Last Game for Saitch, lets go out in style - COME ON YOU IRONS !!!!
