Arsenal v. West Ham

  1. Well we were in it even if we couldn't win it. Considering the usual complaint of injuries we put up a decent show again. Why can't we do this against "lesser" opponents.
Floggin a dead horse again but I have to question some of TFO's choices. Wile E at the back? maybe he can but we need him in mid field. Will he never give the young 'uns a go. Demel? I've seen worse players and so he's out of his favored position, he's done it before. Nobby staggering about, Malfi on the bench? Nene, I like the guy , what little I've seen but however good he is, 10 mins a game? He's gotta be fit enough for 1/2 hour.
So we lost, no surprise there but we fought and could possibly have nicked a point.

Lots of speculation this week, Moyes, Billic et al. Contract talks this month etc.
Bugger's gonna be here next year, you betcha!!

  2. I agree Smitty, until they got their second I thought we were definitely in it. During the first 15 minutes of the second half I thought we were going to hit paydirt - which considering the amount of MIA's we have right now would have been an achievement. But alas no and my only consolation is that Tupper may never get another chance to beat Napoleon in a London Derby. I'm hoping that Sunderland are putting together an end of season "back Up North" deal loaded with mushy peas, black puddings, gravy - the works.

  3. I'd like to think you're right but somehow I can't see him or Mrs A swapping Caviar Puddin on the terrace by the Thames for black puddin in a tower block by the Wear. Bloody long commute if he wants to do it that way.
Hopefully he's gone though. Lets hope Real Madrid realise their window is short and swoop.

  4. Sunderland has a beauty all of it's own Smitty, something the unsophisticated like ourselves will never be able to grasp. Surely Mrs Tupper had her fill of West End shows by now !
As to your question "why can't we play like that against lesser teams" - I think the upgrade at Emirates was due to Song being on form. What makes that bloke tick I have no idea, but maybe the cold weather suppresses his Sapeur tendencies and he can't be arsed - Has Song got his La Sape back ? I hope so !

  5. Sorry, what was I thinking I was forgetting about the Sun in Derland.
You can never see Cats too many times so I'm told.

He is a bit umpredictable. Now if only we could predict when he's got the ump

    1. I'm telling you Smitty, Song's form could be weather related . Literally a fair weather player (OUCH !)

  6. Good job we didn't play today then, who knows what he'd do in a eclipse :-0

  7. From what I've heard the eclipse was a bit of a non event in The Smoke earlier today Smitty (not ike in the ld days when patrick Moore was in charge of Space - well English Space anyway). I'm hoping we don't have a repeat early Saturday evening on Green St.
    Come On You Irons !

  8. Prolly fab in Sunderland tho, lets hope they were "Blinded by the Light" and still haven't recovered.
Yeah, Paddy O'Moore The Man from Pinner Who isn't Reg, he knew what was what when it came to the Black Stuff.

  9. I thought Sunderland would be right up his street. He could get one hell of a McMansion up there, with plenty left over for airmail caviar deliveries and put in every 3rd weekend off in Marbella into his contract. Private jet.....Keep them up and he'd be a king. (in the land of the blind.....)
I still think he'll be gone come the summer. I'd rather have patrick moore, anyday!

  10. Was in the away end and just before they got the first I went out for a pint and said to the bloke on the end - nil nil at half time I'll take that! WALLOP so it's probably my fault chickens hatching etc.
Good game can't fault the effort. Worried though off to the game this afternoon another banana skin waiting for us, possibly. Typical Hammers game we should win comfortably and need to. We've been hear so many times.

  11. I hope you got a sip before they scored George ! Sunderland will be well up for it today, playing to to keep their jobs and with 2 potential managers to impress (both A List: Advocaat and Allardyce). I'm thinking they gave Poyet the Big E, to get that "lift" against us - who must have some of the worst form in the Premiership right now. There's a job of work to be done lets not Bols it up !

  12. Since 20th December: played 12, won 1, drawn 5 lost 6. 8 points! I was thinking back then, " nearly at the magic 40 points" and I still am 3 months later! Maybe today?
Of course all blame lies in the lap of Allardyce.

  13. "all blame" on Alf is a bit much Filthy, although I suspect it's not enough for Smitty. We've got to keep Judas Defoe under heavy manners.

    ReplyDelete
  14. You're wrong Mr P, all blame is a bit much for me. I figure at least 10% is down to Nobby & AC.
Occasional stupidity by individuals along the way are a given but if you're at the top and getting top dollar the buck stops there. In some cases unjustifiable, in this case easy.
Doesn't help his case that he's a whiner as well, never his fault.

    ReplyDelete
  15. So whats the official line Smitty ? Can I quote you on "90% to blame", "less than 90% to blame" or "nearly 90% to blame" ?

    ReplyDelete
  16. 90% to blame, if you have to nail me down. I wish that was the "official line", it's only my line.
If he didn't pick Nobby & AC regardless he'd be 99%

    ReplyDelete
  17. So Mr P, your official line?
    Filthy?

    ReplyDelete
  18. For me it is still at least 90%. Who's responsible for Nobby anyway? I don't have a good word for him (well I do, but can't put that one on a family blog) so I lean towards the 99%. I have to admit that I gave him some credit back in early December, but that was only a loan.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Can I get away with "more to blame than any other single individual", I mean nearly everyones under contributed at some time. Let me have a think on that - he isn't too blame at all or at least not much - a kind of Hammer of the Year by default ?

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm wit you Filth.
Never paid you back I'll bet :)

    Mr P, No you can't.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I've decided it's too negative to start dishing out the blame in percentages, so lame or not I'm sticking with my "more to blame than anyone else". If Tupper, Nobby and AC all split at the end of the season, there will be no complaints from me.

  22. Since we're on the subject. Last season before the move and a lot of seats to fill. Deals have been done on the development, not much money down to move into the new gaff. What do we expect in the summer? And where does that leave Alf? My hope is that it is time to flash the cash, and have an exciting, attractive team (even a big signing - no- not like carroll). Is Alf the man to make that a reality? Is his reputation that good in Italy etc to get one or two to move? I don't think so. He's gone! But does the top shelf have the nous to go for it?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Filthy, my take is that Tiny, Happiness and Lady Brady want a high Profile move and soon after that a sale. Tupper cannot fill the Olympic, he is neither sexy nor exciting and thats what's required to bring the Home Counties Hammers Prodigals "back" and into Stratford. They going to hire someone with some previous, that has some overseas connections and can pull in a few faces, or some serious breaking talent. Alf will be going "back" Up North to Sunderland - he played there right ?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'd say odds on he won't go to Sunderland. He won't willingly go anywhere unless Real give him a call

    ReplyDelete
  25. Sunderland would be perfect. Leicester might suit him (still too close for my liking). Newcastle? John O'Groats utd?
