Well we nearly Bols it up, that should be a Walnink against complacency. Well, now that's out of the way :-/
We were lucky in the first and no saying we would have come back if he'd have put it in. All in all a hard fought battle that we should have put away earlier, but as usual we didn't. Enjoyed it though, and I'm so glad Sack the Lad got it in rather than them, for a change. Usual mystifying subs though, Nene is getting on a bit but looks like a goal getter to me, but he should be on for more than 10 mins to show it, he could probably manage half hour even if he was 40. Malfi, sat in t'corner with Dunce cap on? Will he ever play another minute under the Fat One? Sod off Sam. Can't wait to see the back of you.
Whatever the reason might be Smitty, we really didn't look like we could be arsed in the first half. Slackness all over the park and fortunately that included Judas Defoe (must confess that I breathed a sigh of relief when he went off - not fear of his skill, but he does like to bang 'em in against us). We should have had a penalty too, but thanks to Sakho we won anyway. Obviously I'm happy for the win, but it would have been nice to either see a bit more effort from us - having said that I thought Ginge put in a shift.
Agreed on Jenko, Smitty, snap him up ! But despite my early season gushing I wouldn't be "Going For A Song". Alex is just too inconsistent - he doesn't play well enough often enough - when he's hot he's hot, but when he's not he's about as much use as Arthur Negus !
Entirely with you on Jenkinson YES! and Song NO! I wonder why he went off the boil? I'll put that down to the Sam factor as well until proven otherwise. 3 Points and past the magic 40 at last! I was worried that "Bols" Advocaat might have given them temporary lift.
I agree what people are saying about Song in that he is turning out to be Diame all over again (perhaps worse with his various balls ups) and that Jenko would be a great buy. Then talking about the game even though we got the three points it was quite a scrappy game and illustrates exactly why we need to get rid of Sam. There is no use keeping him if even the wins aren't going to be that much fun to watch.
Hey Filthy I'm with you on Sam /Song. Even though Nobby ( supposedly) is the life and soul of the dressing room BFS's petulance has got to have an effect. Not worth the gazillions to find out but I'd be curious to see if he's more consistent with Sam gone. Malfi's probably not going to get another shot but if he does, injuries etc, be interesting if he plays it safe and loses the oomph he has
I don't think we can afford the loot to find out if Alex would be more consistent without Alf and I suspect he wouldn't - unless his blood curdling defensive moves are carefully constructed in the hope of giving Tupper a heart attack.
Cool to see you back on Saitch Don't Hurt "Em and it seems we have across the Saitch support (thus far) for signing Jenko. I completely agree about the quality of the win - you can't fill Stratford with that kind of show.
Smitty, didn't Malfi just sign a new contract ? If so, why if Alf won't play him ? Could it have been an executive decision ? Thinking post Tupper perhaps ? My #1 son assures me Alf ain't going nowhere - as you know I hope he's wrong ! Advocaat doesn't look like he's up to much !
I'd be inclined to think that Malfi may have signed a new contract but with who? How many does Sam sign & how many do the "board" sign. You can sign em , but you can't make him play em. I hope #1 son is wrong otherwise it will be everyone for a quid at the OS
#1 son must have some kind of inside info. from where I sit the view is quite clear: the board and "his fatness" don't see eye to eye, let alone do anything in tandem. He isn't the man to bring the crowds (and new players) in for the move. He's still not popular with most of the fans. Just a question of who they can get to fill the oversized dimples on his puffy seat on the bench.
Leicester tomorrow and I think it's going to be a proper scrap. Having said that it's hard to imagine Matthew Upson showing up if they decide to have a go - I can't remember him doing much for us ! If they really are going to try to stay up than a home win against us might be their last chance to put a run together. I must be honest and say I've been paying no attention to how they've been playing , I just look at the bottom of the table and it always seems to say Leicester>
Me neither I just know they're bottom, but they made Spuds sweat a bit so if they come out swingin we could be in for a fight . I think we'll take em though.
As long as we're fighting back Smitty, no problems here. As far as Tup'ny Hap'ny strategy goes we should go for the early goal and break the crowd. Come On You Irons !!!!
They must be getting ready to rumble, Matthew Upson's out injured - as predicted no stomach for that battle in that man (or whatever he is ?) I shall now refer to him as "Milky" !

ReplyDeleteAgreed on Ginge, he's a lad and a half.
ReplyDeleteYep, 3 points but not what you'd call a classy 3.

I'm not sure we could afford both and if it had to be one I'd deffo go for Jenks

ReplyDeleteWell, him and Arthur have one thing in common - slow, but steady.
ReplyDeleteDifferent tailors though - I don't recall a sleeveless suit section at Dunn & Co., although they had some pretty natty waistcoats !
