Didn't see it, but it seems Queensbury rules were in place for most of the game. Not a 1st rank team up for us but not the kids either, so we should have learned a lesson - any given Sunday. Thank someone Penalty Killer Adrian was there, could have been embarassing otherwise.
Much as I would like to take some silverware back for the final Boleyn season, I think we're not ready for a protracted European battle at the cost of premier position. A few key injuries at one of these bruisers could cost us dear.
they do seem to be bruisers. Each game as it comes...but that would have been embarrassing. Nice one Mr P evocative of the time when going to Cyprus was more glamorous than it is now.
The first shall be last and all that Clueless - Astra from Roumania next. We play them at home on Thursday and away the following Thursday. The Premiership Season starts early this year (to give The England team time to practise losing in the European Championship next year) and we're away to Arsenal on Sunday the 9th August.
To say you didn't miss much would still be overstatement Smitty. You din't really miss anything at all - OK - Tomka getting sent off, Noble getting stroppy (tsk tsk) and 5 well taken penalties. We do really have to wise up about these red cards 2 in 4 Europa games, but I'm still in favor.
I used to love Maltesers- great big handfuls of them. Do you think stratford is more glamorous than Green st? I think I'd be on the less side, as I tend to nostalgia and the whiff of the old is more glamorous than the stench of the new, 'though I quite understand others feeling differently, and It's probably why I'll be dead and redundant before they are. Gawd! what's got into me, the season hasn't even started and I'm already feeling sad! Watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang last night to celebrate my daughters 19th birthday (her choice!) and it must have sparked off feelings for my youth. Won't happen again!
I'm not sure that "glamour" is the right word Filthy, but I think for most the Olympic Stadium and Westfield Stratford City has more modern world bling and in view of The Games substantial history already. Like you I'm more of a "faded elegance" man, but that aint what the youngsters want and if you've grown up around Green Street in recent years - you've probably already had your fill of "faded elegance". As for Chitty - "Posh" remains a firm favourite of mine, not sure we still have our VHS copy, byte we still have the Dinky/Corgi car (wings still work) and the LP ! Back to Europa - I fancy Super Slav to pull off a proper win today - COME ON YOU IRONS !
Was never mine Filthy, a gift in the 90's to Number One son from a London based family friend-flea marketeer-car boot fanatic. I never had one, although I did have the James Bond ejector seat machine gun bumper job !
I always thought the Brick lane connection should have gone into the "personal shopper" line of employment. He could've been the WHU squad personal shopper- but he's probably too much Brick lane than Bond st for them.

did I say Cyprus? well there as well!
ReplyDeleteWho do they play next? Upper Mongolia? I haven't quite figured out what this pre-season Europa League is all about. When's the real season start?

ReplyDeleteGetting your Maltesers and Cypiots mixed up Filthy ! Spend enough time on Green Street and either place is still "more glamourous" !

I'm jealous you still have the car. Mine's long gone.
