Trials, Tribulations and Triumphs of being 3,473 Miles from Upton Park and West Ham United (Aug 2011 - May 2016)
Oi! Where have you been, SAITCHY!! I kept checking!! Hoping that you were not effected by 'Urricane Sandy. Love this new Bill-Sykes-looking post! At least that's how I see it? Keep them coming SAITCHY! I miss these poetic posts. Your ever fan, CBTG
"Flattery will get you everywhere" with me CBTG, but I can't claim 'Urricane damage for the delay in posting - it was caused by the commotion of an early Thanksgiving here in the USA. But with what's left of the turkey in the soup pot and the pie long gone, I can once again focus on The Hammers. Spuds Sunday Morning - maybe we can snatch all 3 points and a few choruses of "Knees Up Muvver Brown" ? Come On You Irons
Joey O finally stuck one in despite what we have to say about him, but its about time that AC actually knocks one in, he's playing really well, but he should actually get a couple goals as well, when Nobby doesn't score he rarely deserves over a 4 out of 10. Results wise in the past few games we've been doing well but our offense has looked very weak lately
Checking in at half time against Spuds, Dont Hurt 'Em and as feared Judas Defoe has just scored for them. Your observations on our front line are still holding up after the first half on White Hart Lane.
Well we coulda again but not to be. Finishing again not up to scratchbut I'm still a happy camper with where we are and at least we're not losing them.Personally I think the AC drought is a cunning plan to stop him going back to Liverpool, be enough of a pest in the box to give Nobby the honors, then once he's officially an 'Ammer, Boff!!, hat tricks back to back - wotcher think!!
I'm on the same page as you Smitty (No ! Not This One !!!), can't complain about 7th Place and I too have started thinking that AC's lack of numbers might work to our advantage during the January window. If he stays and then it's goals galore - Deep Joy .
Is that Bill Sykes and a welcome party for the visitors from the potteries? Nasty looking billy club whoever it is.Again only playing for half the game, but not a bad performance, and a good result. All's well...I'm not bothered by Carroll's drought. Reckon he do with a period off the booze.
Bill Sykes as you know Filthy, is a fictional character, but coming from Dickens I suspect he was drawn from real life. Not sure if the comedic singer Sam Collins (posted above) is portraying Bill, or a similar archetype ? Sykes was introduced in 1838 and "Honest" Sam was all the rage in London at the time of The Great Exhibition (1851). As for AC, the Xmas Party season is no doubt about to kick off, so it's hardly the time a young man would normally choose to go on the wagon. Is the sauce a problem for the Geordie, or just a hangover from his Newcastle (Brown Ale) days ?
sam collins....thanks for the info.lots of talk about " Anti-semitic' chanting on Saturday. there's been so much in the press recently about racism, i reckon some even felt "up for it" in reaction. Oh dear! Some people haven't changed, and probably won't. But they have to be silenced!
Haven't joined the fray for such a long time, but I couldn't resist a little gloat on yer blog, Andy. 3-0, GLOAT, 3-0 GLOAT, 3-0 GLOAT,... as we joyously throw our yamulkes in the air. It's only a game, eh boys? Better luck next time,...yeah... go the Spurs, go the Spurs,.. Yeah!!! Can't keep a good cockerel down,...Yeah! Sorry I didn't wait for the incredible art work. Don't be hard on the North London Lads now.
Fully agree with you Filthy on the Anti-Semitic front and of course I should have expected Uncle Chivers to re-appear in view of recent events. I'm working on the Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham post and once its up, I will address you both in full.
