  1. a return bus ride to Stoke, ticket to the game, half time pint, cod, chips, mushy peas AND a Saveloy and still change from a.......
The 3 points the most valuable of all. Maybe Dubai wasn't such a bad idea..'though it seems half the premier league was there.

  2. Front seats upstairs reserved for Collison and Vaz Te, Filthy ("Crazy Horse" Reid gets to sit in them often enough). It wasn't looking too rosey when Taylor came off with that Crouchadinho to the head, briskly followed by Joe Cole and his hamstring (13 minutes in ?), but the two subs did us proud. I know Jack is a "special case" with his dodgy knee, but I'd like to think Ricardo earned himself another go as first pick.

  3. I though RVT was playing well before his injury, so I'd be happy to see him get a run. Looks like the Olympic stadium debate's going to run until the next Olymipcs. Orient still trying to get in on it.
A weekend off! back to Dubai?

  4. My old man (RIP) once recalled that he knew Barry Hearn (Mr. Leyton Orient) when he was "poncing smokes down the snooker halls" and further observed that "he ain't got a days work in him". Still surely The Hammers at The Olympic would be the death knell for The O's ? Maybe they could move to Dubai ?

  5. Yup, it would be curtains for The Orient. They have been lined up for the firing squad and deserve some sympathy despite their chairman.
I'm not sure if sharing would work. How many go to their games regularly? I know 3 people who do, but not sure how many more. I guess there has to be a break-even figure.

  6. Well I know a Dad and his two kids who go too, so that makes six. But he only goes because he can't afford Emirates. If we were to offer cheap seats and lets face it, if it happens we will, he may be getting off a stop earlier on the Central Line. I've heard the O's draw 3,500 - 5,000 hardly worth turning the lights on for a 60,00 seater is it ?

  7. The three I know are a Dad and 2 sprogs, but the Dad bribes the kids. A family club!

  8. I've read that Hearn owns the O's Football Ground, so if he could swing a share he'd have a nice piece of real estate to unload. I wonder if there's any kind of agreement/contract that forbids him to just shut up shop ? Or would he then be a "dead man walking" in Leytonstone ? Make a change from eleven "dead men playing" anyway !

  9. Ooops, asleep at the wheel here. Stunned by the thought of a road win.
All in all a fun time and they even threw in a little angst at the end to get the adrenaline working. Good call that man!!
Adds a little fuel to the is Alf gone or not debate.
Glad you got to pig out with a smile Filthy.

  10. By "angst" I assume you mean when Stoke's Charlie Adam's hit our cross bar Smitty, were we already in extra time ? Just as well it's livening up down below us !

  11. That and the maybe / maybe not penalty.
All go in the dying minutes.
    but we held on.

  12. As the clippie at the top would say: "Hold On Tight, Please" !

  14. Chelski up next and if they play anything like they did in their second half in the FA Cup yesterday, they will be more than a handful. Having said that, if they play like they did in their second half at Upton Park they could be taken !

  15. Could go either way, depending on who shows up to play, but I think we'll put up a good show.
Good chance to see if the away jinx is gone.

  16. Anything could happen in that one.......

  17. Having had a poke about, i was reminded that the last season we had six points off Chelsea was the 2002-2003 season. Maybe it could be our ten year anniversary - C'MON YOU IRONS !!!

  18. I think that vaz proved that he is more likely to get something going then Taylor is.

  19. Welcome back Don't Hurt 'Em and I must agree. I've been a bit baffled by Alf's preference for Matt Taylor over Vaz Te, perhaps Matt's more impressive in training. Anyway I'd start with Ricardo and go to Taylor if it aint happening.

  20. Jarvis has also showed time and time again that in order for him to get hot he needs to get the ball and put over a ton of crosses, he's not the guy who will put in a great cross on his first attempt

  21. You make another good case for playing the ball up the field Don't Hurt 'Em and not once every 15 minutes either. We paid a club record for Jarvis and if we're not going to get the ball to him, what's the point ? Every time we go for the long ball - knock down approach, Jarvis might as well not be there. If he's given some service, then he could do the same for the front line - of course this all reeks of football !

  22. I think Jarvis could be a key on sunday. Attack Chelsea down the wings and cross it in behind them. their defence is weak and tired now, put pressure on them, it COULD happen again, their minds are elsewhere. I reckon yossi could get a start for the west london team, which will be somehow confusing and not good for his self esteem! Is J.C fit? lampard's last return to Upton park? loads of intrigue and little sub plots.
    All will be revealed....

  23. According to Alf's Friday press meet, neither Noble, Nolan or Cole will be available Filthy and so as they like to say in the coprporate world: "An opportunity has arisen". So where's Hughie Green ?
