West Ham United v. Wigan Athletic

  1. I was starting to wonder if we'd ever beat Wigan,
this one seemed to be as close a walk in the park as possible.
Seem to be a lot of beasts being laid to rest lately.
How important is AC to all this?! I'm just not sure how many people Alf's gotta be nice to to keep him.
    IMO, everyone it takes.
Unles we totally fall apart I think we'll finish as well, if not better, as could be expected.
Big finish now boys! Make the faithful smile. COYI!!

  2. Well there's no denying AC is playing his part Smitty and I also hope that Alf, The Davids and Iron Brady do what's required to keep him with us. Jarvis seems to be stepping it up too. Wigan played better and we won - that makes nice change, it wasn't so long ago we might have caved in. I'd like to see one more point on the board before I declare us 100% safe, as the scars from the last 42 point drop have yet to completely heal - a mere formality ? No such thing at West Ham !

  3. Agreed all round Mr P.
    A mere formality of course.
Last minute of last game I would suggest. Just to make sure the pacemakers are all working.

  4. Good to be cautious, but those were 3 very good points, even if they were a bit lucky. What do you think AC wants for next season? I can't see him being all that keen on going back to the Mersey. Tyne or Thames I reckon.

  5. Welcome back AP! The silence was deafening around these parts.

  6. Let's keep AC down here with us Filthy, "How they gonna keep him down on the farm (ok down t'pit) once he's seen Paree ?" Splash the sheikels says I.

    1. favourite west ham match !!

      Favorite! - they're all gems!
It's like a rigorous health regimen to keep you fit.
What other club offers you an Ironacoaster like theirs?
Come out swingin way above their weight, every minute a maybe. Next week they couldn't beat my grannie's knitting 11 with a 2 goal start.
      Love 'em. Irooooooooons.

  9. Cheers for the kind words Dave. I did stick a press release in the hands of Mr Gold at the Green St. Hammers Shop, but I'm not sure what he made of me, or it. I also filmed something at Eb & Flow for Hammers TV, but don't think it was shown (at least nobody told me). Of course I would be happy to have something with the club, but not sure how you get it in the right hands. In the meantime I'll just Keep On
Saitchin' - Citeh, they owe us 2 points from that dodgy off-side call !

    1. Hi AP, there was an article in the Newcastle programme about your work. Have just checked out your blog, great stuff, shame the game wasn't as interesting! Really like the Play off final and Coventry ones. Looking forward to what you made of the Newcastle game.

  10. Dave, just realised I never answered your question, although I did answer a question you never asked. Too many matches to pick even a few, but my favourite player remains Billy Bonds.

  11. A classic Mr P... George Orwell taking us back to caps and rattles and the time when football was "of the people. For the people" The end of Billy Bonds chimed with the end of those times. Looks like the "nowhere" and "boredom" buses are back for a look in as well.

  12. Flattery will get you every where Filthy. Some might see it as unkind to dwell on the dilemna facing the Lactics faithful, but I see it as yet another episode in the slings and arrows of being from Wigan. It strikes me that their Wembley bound bus may well end up in the same place as the other one. It was a six pointer for us and we took it with what I hope becomes characteristic cockney coolness! Now can we catch Citeh out too - not out of the question eh ?

  13. I stand not only corrected but happily so, Wigan have moved their Wembley bound bus into The Winners Parking Space ! Hats off to Martinez and crew - next up, can they keep the other bus out of the 2nd Division ?
