  1. or "a few strikers more" well, a largely irrelevant game, but another chance passed up to gain some confidence. Hope you're all better now Mr P

  2. They only did half as well as the first go round, or we did twice as well, depending on how you look at it.
As Filthy said though, basically just a game for pride, if such a thing exists in the evening of Alf's era.
Faithful voted with their feet, a sad sign.
So now it's all on the league. Injured coming back so no more explainations. Time to get down and do it. Looking for 17th and onward and upward.
    Irooooooooons!!

    1. Not looked at the stats but 14,000 odd must be lowest crowd for years. A lot of people I know had tickets though and just didn't bother. Frightening to think we will be in the OS in couple of years! Just cannot see the squad we had have got the balls to get us out of it, and once again a complete farce in the transfer market. We really need something to go right for us over the next month cause looking at our last 5 games we can't afford to leave it to the last minute. COYI!!

    2. I'm still in the "I think we'll stay up-just" corner.
It won't be pretty and it won't have anything to do with BFS. It will just be whether the boys get down to it - and I think they will.

    3. Not my neck of the woods - lowest attendance figures George, but I'll stick the old deer stalker on, have a poke about and see if I can dig something up. The way I see the last minute is January 31st and whatever way you cut it the Olympic Stadium and the Second Division is not going to work out - "disaster" would be an understatement !

    4. George, looks like the lowest attendances goes with the Carling Cup, 10,055 in 2008 for Macclesfield and before that - "all the ones" (I'm sure there's a kosher bingo call) 11,111 for Notts County in 2004. Still, doesn't the count for Citeh include all tickets sold ? I wonder how many no shows there where - more than the Brady Bunch would care to confess to no doubt.

    5. I'm sure we were close to that, seem to have been a lot of noshows just on principle. Over to you Slippery , did it look like 14K+?

  3. I'm definitely coming along quicker than AC Filthy, who according to Slippery, has already earned himself a Four Dayer in Dubai with the rest of the squad. "We've been tonked in the FA Cup by a Second Division and lost the League Cup Semi Final by 9 goals - Lets go the beach." I'd have sent them for 4 days camping in Nottingham and no mushy peas !

  4. Right now I'm not certain Alf Tupper would know what Pride is, if it ran him over in a Commer van Smitty. But at least according to your theory, next time we play Citeh we might only lose by one and a half !

  5. He doesn't.
Nah, we'll get totally rollered again!! I hate to say it but we're out of their league.
Doesn't mean we shouldn't put in a shift though, that's all I want to see - some stones and heart.

  6. "stones and heart" Smitty ? Sounds like they've gone to Dubai for some sand and duty free instead !

    1. Yeh and the way they are playing at the it'll be fags they bring home duty free. Bad new Watford 2-0 up against Citeh. Good news we've signed Nocerino - anyone know anything about him so far comments I've seen are favourable.

    2. In view of our recent form I can only tip me Stingy brim Watford's way George. Is there a photo of Nocerino holding or wearing a West Ham shirt ?I'm not counting my Chickens before they Run...

    3. According our Chief of Public Relations Jack Sullivan (aged 13 unless I've missed his birthday) has tweeted Nocerino and Marco Barriello have signed. There's seperate photos of them both holding an Alpari West Ham shirt - I wonder who's name is on the back ? Probably one of Petric's unused ones ! The Italian Job commences....

  7. Me and me son went A.P. ( another great saitch by the way except ..'Wot no Tumbleweed')..cos although me minces aint what they used to be im sure i see some Tumble towards the Chicken Run the other night...the only comparison i can think off to sum up West Ham at the moment is a film that come out in the early 80's called Eraserhead...i watched it once and vowed never to watch again because i ended up with the maddest baddest headache ive ever had and am starting to get now just thinking of that poxy film..

  8. You're a solid geezer for going Slippery and one day when the sun does shine again upon us you can remind your son of that poxy night on Green Street and he can wear it like a badge of honour. All Hail the Upton Park Faithful !

  9. S&H , yeah does seem like a total washout as an idea under Alf, but you can but hope.

Speaking of which, if we have borrowed a coupla live players who could do us some good, is Alf gonna use em? Has the penny finally dropped? If we carry on playing 1 up top hoofball when we have some real live firepower, the mind boggles.
Can he get them in against Chelski? Are our hopes and dreams to be dashed again.
Will we all be smiling on thurs morning?
I'll take a point and smile.

  10. I'm under the impression that Nocerino is an attacking midfielder, so I assume that he's taking Ravel or Diame's spot ? Only a fool would think he could replace Nobby, except for when he gets sent off. As for Barriello, has he ever played The Lone Ranger ? Alf playing two up front from the kick off - can't see that happening either.

  11. I heard good things about Nocerino, but not sure why he fell out of favour back in Milan.
I'm afraid I go against you Slippery: I really enjoyed Eraserhead he even had tumbleweed for hair. Still, it made about as much sense as Alf's game plans do...... everything to play for, the bottom half of the table all have troubles, and none of them feeling comfortable

  12. That's what I'm clinging to Filthy, you won't need 40 points to stay up this season, perhaps not even the 35 Zola avoided the drop with in 2009/10. That season 31 would have put you 17th, but I wouldn't gamble on that particular lightning striking twice. I also assume (bad move I know) that like Zola our Charimen would hand Alf his P45 citing less than 40 points as a relegation worthy point total.

  13. I think whatever happens this season, the moment has passed for the axe to fall on alf's bull-like neck. I also think that is probably the right decision. I also think that he will be dispensed with in the summer whatever the next 4 months bring. I for one will be happy on that day. Not as happy as on the day of Thatchers demise, but happy nonetheless with a sense of time and place. With Alf survival is Nirvana, and That is Bolton/Blackburn, But it ain't Bow.
Good number crunching Mr P. I'd still love to see Zola back.......Post survival....

  14. It is Bow Filthy....Bow Locks (my old fishing gaff)...26/01/2011..Avram p.24-pts21..
    27/01/2014..B.F.S P22-PTS18
if it does come on top this season then G & S as kids never played with matches and got burnt..never put their fingers into the electric socket and got zapped & never crossed the road without looking and got run over..cos if they had then they wouldnt have done it again the way they are with Grant/Allardyce...could've outted Grant that January but never and regretted it...

  15. Zola Back Filthy - it's not for me, lovely bloke and a good footballer but I am totally unconvinced that he is management material - far too nice. Maybe if he could partner up ? I do agree that it's too late to axe Alf and I also think the Brady Bunch were never up for the golden handshake. Who would have stepped in and made a difference ? the only "temp" I could come up with is Clever Trevor, who probably doesn't want the gig. Not sure where Alf would land next could he now be Too Northern For The North ?

  16. Bow Locks Slippery ? By Limehouse Cut ? Did you ever catch anything other than a cold ? Not sure what to make of G&S and the creek they're currently in ? They must be smart enough to know what relegation means with The Olympic looming and surely they can't have forgotten Avram already ? You'd think they'd be "to mattresses" and nobody goes home until we're in the clear. The chances of coming straight back up from The Second Division twice in a row have got to be slim, but they even seem cagey on flashing some green in the January Sales. It seems such a hell of a gamble, do they know something that we don't ?

  17. A.P. You'd be surprised if i told you whats been caught from Bow Locks to the Olympic Stadium stretch of canal ..no Bollocks//

  18. Surely not fish Slippery ? Not unless it's been battered and fried, or pickled ? I'm afraid all those rows of figures and talk of assets, debts and turnover is smoke and mirrors to me. As soon as I got to Algebra all hope was lost and anything more complicated than a hire purchase agreement is beyond me.

  19. City Mill River ,where that Big red Orbital thing in the olympic park is now ,bang opposite the olympic stadium.where (Beckham gave sir steve redgrave .the olympic flame)years ago full of everything you'd find in steptoes yard and more...but for some reason ,because it was quiet there in the summer vBream would shoal up and spawn there,on a bad day you could catch 30-40lb in total of bream there ...on a good day over 100cwt...ive caught pike there up top 20lb...perch..smelt..dace..roach..carp..bleak..silver bream..sticklebacks..chub..rudd..eels..goldfish..chinese mitten crabs.(poxy things)..also fenced off behind you was where they parked BR trains ...when we were a lot younger we'd go through the fence and get on the trains and raid the buffet cars on them...trains were empty and you had to watch out for the security guard ...amongst us was a certain boy named Lee Mcqueen...who used his full name when he got older Alexander Mcqueen...

  20. Fish galore by the sounds of it Slippery, I'm having visions of Moby Pike. Maybe Gavin could work a spot of rod and reel in to his Thames Ironworks Lifeboat Caper. As for Lee McQueen if ever there was a life that proved "All That Glitters Is Not Gold" it was his. Everyone from East London should be proud of both his talent and recognition - people in New York lined up for over 7 hours to see his craft at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (they had to extend the opening hours to accomodate the crowds).

  21. Both feet securely in mouth here, but I think we may put up a show at Chelski.
I think we'll surprise them and nick it.
No real reason I should think it, I just do.
