Sunderland v. West Ham Utd

  1. That's 2 wins in a row! Does 37 points mean the Hammers are safe from dropping down to the second division now? Or Sammy is safe to keep his job? Probably both.

  2. traditionally it is thought that 40 points would mean you are safe, but it has happened that a team( and one familiar to all here!) has gone down with more. But yes I think you can be confident that the hammers will stay up.
Allardyce will be knighted and given a pay rise and the attention turns to who the club might buy in the closed season.

  4. Probably both is right Clueless, it would take an unheard of run of good form from the teams below us, combined with a team-wide meltdown for us to go down now ! Because of the previous sentence it seems unlikely that the Brady Bunch would bring in a new manager.

  5. Yep, looks like we're still in the PL.
I enjoyed that, the nearest we've come to actual footie for a while.AC did a textbook what he's supposed to do, Momo snuck one in after a fairly pedestrian performance, Nolan was a pillock and got away with it and Sunderland made a match of it so exitin to the last drop. Why BFS allowed them to play I don't know and if we could do that every week and at least go down swingin or with some variety when we have to lose I'd be happy.
BFS next year probably, but hope springs eternal.
Prediction for next year. If BFS is still here and Amero stays. He got a bit of a crack for the first time, I liked him. Runs like a whippet and doesn't look like a quitter, but he looks like he'll want to be forward all the time. Sam will tell him to stay back and suck the life right out of him and he'll get caught out a couple of times. Sam will throw a hissy fit and we'll never see him again. Waste.

  6. "who the club might buy in the closed season" Smitty ? Sadly probably no one of the calibre the fans dream of and I'm reckoning that Alf is going to continue with Nobby next season too. But before I start groaning about who might be coming in, will we retain Winston Reid - there's bound to be interest from the big boys - The Goooners, The Scousers and The Red Army are all in need of quality defenders.

  8. 3 points at Sunderland is never to be sniffed at Smitty. AC knocked in a "proper" header and I won't knock any goal scored by one of ours this season - Downing nearly had one to. as you say Amero shows promise and as you also say we'll now have to see whjat the manager does to him !

  9. Sketchy win, if the nolan penalty was given who know what would have happened. We scored early in both halves and it seemed after each goal we went into lock down for the rest of the half which means we attacked for a combines 10 minutes and locked down the rest

  10. Howdy Don't Hurt 'Em - "We scored early in both halves and it seemed after each goal we went into lock down for the rest of the half" - I would imagine that was Tupper's instructions to a tee, no ? "Sketchy" well might be my favourite one word description of our season !
